2_410_new_athens_airport_elThe Federation οf Associations οf Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (OSYPA) has announced a 48-hour strike for Monday 30 June and Tuesday 1 July.

OSYPA is pressing for immediate state funding to improve airport infrastructure.

However, Greek air traffic controllers stated that they would not take part in the strike so major disruptions to flights arriving and departing Greece are not expected. Some delays may occur though.

In an announcement, the Hellenic Association of Airline Representatives (SAAE) said that the government should in fact begin to provide the necessary funds for urgent improvement works to take place in Greek airports that receive the most traffic.

SAAE, however, requested for OSYPA to suspend the scheduled strike for the “common benefit of all.”
