A modern European unit, Domaine Vassiliou is one of the first wineries that opened to the public in the area of Koropi, Attiki. The traditional vineyards owned by Domaine Vassiliou are on the slopes of the Koropi area and cover a surface of 150 acres of well-drained calcareous and coppery soils. The varieties growing include the traditional Savvatiano, Roditis and the fragrant Asirtiko. Nemea is one of the P.D.O. (Protected Designation of Origin) zones and perhaps the most important wine region of Greece. There, stands the Nemeion Estate, which borrowed its name from ancient Nemea and is a state of the art winery. Nemeion Estate vineyards are located in the broader Nemea viticultural zone where the best quality grapes are produced: two hectares in Koutsi, 3,5 hectares in Petri and six hectares in Asprokambos. Domaine Vassiliou recently opened the wine museum/restaurant area (seen in photo below) where visitors can combine traditional local cuisine with the wines of Domaine Vassiliou and Nemeion Estate. Location Domaine Vassiliou is located just 5 minutes from Athens International Airport and 45 minutes from Cape Sounion and the Temple of Poseidon. The Nemeion Estate is located near Ancient Nemea and 45 minutes from Nafplio. Follow GTP Headlines on Google News to keep up to date with all the latest on tourism and travel in Greece.
