Investments China Reaffirms Interest To Acquire Majority Stake In Athens Airport by GTP editing team 3 July 2014 written by GTP editing team 3 July 2014 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 10 The Association of Chinese Business Groups reaffirmed its interest in acquiring the majority stake in Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” in a meeting with Greek Deputy Development Minister Notis Mitarakis on 3 June in the Greek capital. Representatives from the Chinese consortium comprising Friedmann Pacific Asset Management (FPAM) and Shenzhen Airport attended the meeting. During the meeting, the Chinese side expressed an interest to make Athens Airport a major gateway from Asia to Europe. On his part, Mr. Mitarakis said Greece’s privatization fund TAIPED would soon launch an international tender for the sale of a majority stake in the airport of the Greek capital. The Greek development minister also noted that the recent visit of Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang in Athens confirmed the excellent bilateral political relations between Greece and China and said that further development of economic and business relations would bring significant benefits for both countries. He added that conditions were ripe for the development of direct air links between China and Greece.
