According to Mr. Asariotis, the reservation system for seaplane flights will be activated by this October. Hellenic Seaplanes had originally planned to establish seaplane connections in Greece as of summer 2014. However, the legislative process proved to be quite complicated and plans had to be put on hold for next year. In his statements to Athens News Agency, Mr. Asariotis made it clear that the Greek state is a contributor to the company’s effort for the establishment of seaplane services in the country. 2015: 10 waterways at first, more to follow In regards to the company’s plans for next year, Hellenic Seaplanes will initially operate around 10 waterways and mainly service the Sporades island group. The company’s target is for 100 waterways to operate throughout Greece in 2016. Mr. Asariotis added that Hellenic Seaplanes will work with leading international tour operators to offer travel packages to tourists that will include access to remote Greek islands via seaplane flights. The company will also cooperate with cruise companies. In addition, according to a new tourism bill, seaplanes are expected to operate from large marinas in Greece.
