Culture Visitation Numbers At Greece’s Museums, Archaeological Sites Increase by GTP editing team 11 July 2014 written by GTP editing team 11 July 2014 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 11 Archaeological Site of Kameiros, Rhodes Visitors to Greek museums during the first three months of the year increased by 13 percent and revenue from receipts were up by 8.4 percent compared with the same period in 2013, according to data released recently by the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT). Likewise, during the January-March 2014 period, archaeological sites in Greece saw a 24.6 percent increase in visitor numbers and a 13.1 percent increase in revenue from receipts. According to ELSTAT, in March alone, the country’s museums enjoyed a 13.7 percent increase in visitors and a 4.9 percent increase in receipts, compared with the corresponding period last year. Visitors to archaeological sites during March were up by 19.5 percent and receipts rose by 1.5 percent, compared with the same month in 2013. Total revenue of receipts from museums and archaeological sites for the January – March period amounted to 3.07 million euros, an increase of 11.7 percent compared to last year.
