european-hotelHotels in Europe reported declines in total revenue per available room (TrevPAR) by 0.6 percent last year, according to STR Global’s Annual Profitability Data for 2013.

However, gross operating profit per available room (GOPPAR) increased by 1.4 percent in 2013 due to lower departmental and undistributed operating expenses compared to 2012.

STR Global’s Annual Profitability Data for 2013 covers 50 countries outside North America.

According to the report, the Middle East and Africa achieved the strongest growth in GOPPAR, when measured in U.S. dollars, while Asia Pacific reported a slight decline of -0.5 percent.

The Annual Profitability Data for 2013 comprises P&L (profit and loss) performance for more than 8,000 hotels globally, providing an invaluable strategic source of information and helping industry stakeholders understand profitability market dynamics on a city, country and regional level.
