The flag-raising ceremony was organized recently by Nana Beach Hotel and attended by guests and members of staff and management.

Drapanos Beach is under the management of Nana Beach and has been awarded continuously for years by the Greek Society for the Protection of Nature, which manages the international voluntary eco-label “Blue Flag” program for Greece.

In recognition of its environmental policy, Nana Beach has also been awarded the “Green Key Eco Label,” the largest global eco-label for accommodation. The hotel also cooperates actively with “Legambiente” and  participates every year in the “Clean up the Med” program and “Archelon,” the sea turtle protection society of Greece.

Nana Beach implements green practices in its daily operation such as using low consumption lamps and light detectors and running an extensive recycling program.

Drapanos Beach is among the 408 beaches in various destinations in Greece recognized for excellent seawater quality, litter management, organization of the swimming area, safety procedures for bathers and protection of the environment. Out of all of Greece, Lasithi on Crete came in first place as blue flags were awarded to 42 of the destination’s beaches.

Blue Flags are a recognized symbol of excellence around the world in regards to the sustainable management of recreational coastal areas.
