World Travel Awards (WTA) has arrived at Divani Apollon Palace & Thalasso in Athens, Greece, to complete final preparations ahead of the Europe Gala Ceremony 2014 to be held on 2 August.

“Greece has shown remarkable resilience over the past five years, recovering swiftly from the economy turmoil which swept the country to reclaim its rightful place at the forefront of European tourism,” WTA President Graham Cooke said, speaking ahead of the Gala Ceremony.

Hundreds of hospitality industry leaders are expected to attend the event in order to discover who has won the coveted prizes.

Hailed as “the Oscars of the travel industry,” WTA is acknowledged across the globe as the ultimate travel accolade. The brand aims to celebrate those organizations that are pushing the boundaries of industry excellence.

“World Travel Awards is proud to be here at Divani Apollon Palace & Thalasso to show our support for the hospitality sector and to recognize those organizations which have seized the opportunity in recent years to emerge stronger than ever,” Mr. Cooke said.

World Travel Awards celebrates its 21st anniversary this year, with the Europe Gala Ceremony the second stop on the annual Grand Tour.

The tour, which visited Dubai earlier this year, will also include stops in Abuja (Nigeria), Quito (Ecuador), New Delhi (India), and the beautiful Caribbean island of Anguilla, before arriving in Marrakech, Morocco, for the Grand Final in November.
