The onboard performances are part of the themed events the cruise line has announced for this season. The Greek skilled virtuoso and his team, consisting of five musicians and four dancers, will take passengers on a melodic journey in the Aegean and perform songs that exude true and authentic Greece such as the renowned Fragosiriani of Markos Vamvakaris and Hartaetoi of Mikis Theodorakis. A total of six special onboard concerts are scheduled. The first concert will open on the Louis Olympia on 4 August. Then, passengers on the Louis Cristal will have the pleasure to enjoy the bouzouki player during the “Idyllic Aegean” cruise on 8 and 25 August. Thanasis Polykandriotis will appear once again on the Louis Cristal on 5 September. Two more concerts will follow on 19 September and 19 October on the Louis Olympia. In addition, on 5 September, Thanasis Polykandriotis and Dr. Dimitris Stathakopoulos, musicologist of Panteion University, will hold an interactive music workshop on the history of Greek music, during the Louis Cristal’s 7-day cruise. Passengers will have the rare opportunity to become acquainted with the history and secrets of the musical instruments that are the heart of the musical tradition of the Greeks such as the bouzouki and the stringed musical instruments tzouras and baglama. The 62 themed cruises lined up this year by Louis Cruises are designed to promote Greek hospitality, history, culture, music, cuisine, dance and entertainment to passengers. The cruise line aims to offer onboard experiences full of “Greek color” to suit all ages, tastes and nationalities.
