Athens, Greece, Sees More Arrivals In July

The impressive increase of arrivals at Athens International Airport since the beginning of the year continued in July.

International and domestic tourist arrivals to Athens in July rose by 22.2 percent compared to the same month in 2013, latest data from Athens Airport showed recently.

Specifically, in July a total of 1,185,556 travelers arrived in the Greek capital from abroad compared with 972,904 during the same month in 2013. Domestic arrivals in July reached 586,947, compared with 477,138 last year.

January-July 2014

International and domestic tourist arrivals to Athens during the first seven months jumped 18.1 percent compared to the same period last year.

Overall, Athens Airport welcomed 8,243,011 international and domestic passengers during the January-July period,  compared to 6,981,086 last year.

It should be noted that the number of tourists who came to visit Athens as a destination (and not as a stopover) increased by 33 percent in July and 34 percent since the beginning of the year.
