Yiorgos Gatos, Thodoris Orfanidis and Antonis Fiorakis are three Greeks who noticed a gap in the tourism market and came up with an idea: to create an online platform for those interested in renting a boat for their vacation at an affordable price, without middlemen and the exorbitant fees of intermediary brokers.

And then came Incrediblue, a pioneer in online boat rental. This startup proved that despite the economic challenges Greece is facing, a good idea can stay afloat.

Incrediblue was established in 2012 and is now an award-winning online platform for boat rental, which in a short time has managed to expand throughout Europe.

The online platform (www.incrediblue.com) directly connects yacht owners with travelers from all around the world who are interested in renting a yacht or motor boat. The platform gives boat lovers the ability to easily compare prices, discuss possible questions in detail with boat owners, to see actual photos of the vessels they are interested in renting and to get the best prices by booking securely through the online payment system.

The company currently has more than 3,000 vessels at 100 popular parts of Europe, which increase daily.

Greek startups: It just takes a groundbreaking idea

incrediblue_IMG_8618(1)Incrediblue received funding from the Jeremie Openfund II, which helps entrepreneurs with fresh ideas and provides support for the development of startups. It is co-financed by the European Investment Fund with funds from the digital convergence program.

The Greek startup ecosystem is rapidly developing and Incrediblue has been a member of this process since the beginning.

For this reason, the co-founder and CEO of Incrediblue, Antony Fiorakis, is encouraging young people and the unemployed who are interested in web entrepreneurship as a career.

“If you have an innovative idea today, it is absolutely feasible to try it at a minimum cost and if it is applicable, you can then create your own company,” Mr. Fiorakis said.

Those who wish to seek assistance and funding from the European Union will find the necessary information on the link http://ec.europa.eu/easme/sme_en.htm, while there are a number of other international Funds available that offer support for business ideas.
