Company updates June-July 2014: Aegean Registers Growth In Int’l Passenger Traffic At Greek Airports by GTP editing team 7 August 2014 written by GTP editing team 7 August 2014 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 19 Aegean Airlines has registered significant growth in international passenger traffic at the Greek airports of Thessaloniki, Chania, Heraklio and Rhodes during the two summer months of June and July, according to recently released figures. During June-July 2014, the Greek airline carried a total of 159,945 passengers on international routes to and from Thessaloniki Airport, a growth of 11 percent compared to the same period in 2013. Likewise, during the same two-month period, Aegean carried a total of 196,572 international passengers to and from the airports of Heraklio and Chania on Crete and reached a 30 percent growth and a total of 96,038 foreign passengers to and from Rhodes Airport, a growth of 19 percent compared to the same period last year. According to Aegean, the increase in traffic is mainly the result of the airline’s international network expansion by including new destinations. Through Aegean, Thessaloniki is connected throughout the summer season to eight German cities (Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich, Dusseldorf, Hanover, Cologne, Nuremberg, Stuttgart), Larnaca, Tel Aviv, Yerevan, and to traditional destinations such as Paris and Brussels. Also, for the first time the city of Thessaloniki is connected to three Russian destinations (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Rostov). Also, this year the Greek carrier has connected Crete (Heraklio and Chania) to a total of 65 international destinations and Rhodes to 32 international destinations.
