On Monday 25 August the Salamis Filoxenia cruise ship made a one-day stopover at the port of Agios Kirikos in Ikaria with some 700 holidaymakers from Cyprus onboard.

Ikaria belongs to a group of islands in the Eastern Aegean Sea, which includes Samos to the east, Mykonos to the west, Chios to the north and the sacred island of Patmos to the south.

Special music and dance events were held upon the arrival of the cruise ship.

Passengers on the Salamis Filoxenia included a production team from the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (PIK). The team filmed different parts of the island for an upcoming episode of a new travel show dedicated to Greek destinations.

According to an announcement, the episode dedicated to Ikaria will promote the island’s historical attractions and special cuisine. Another shooting will be scheduled to take place next month.

Also on the cruise were some 80 people from Cyprus’ Channel 6.

The Salamis Filoxenia is owned by the Cyprus-based Salamis Cruises.
