Greece Among Top 10 Countries With Most Beachfront Hotels & Resorts In The World

Greece is among the top 10 winners of the new Global Beachfront Awards that recognize countries with the most accommodation located directly on the beach.

In a poll carried out by the Beachfront Club, Greece came in sixth place with 576 “true beachfront” hotels, resorts and bungalows where guests can step from their hotels and straight onto the sand.

The Global Beachfront Awards, issued by The Beachfront Club, recognize countries with the most true beachfront hotels; that is, accommodation directly on a beach or oceanfront with no obstructions (road or traffic) between the rooms and the water.

The awards were established to publicize hotels where travelers and beach lovers can enjoy a true beachside setting and not feel they have been subjected to false advertising about beach-side locations.

With an amazing 1,250 true beachfront accommodations establishments, Thailand has won the Global Beachfront Awards, beating the USA and Mexico into second and third places, followed by Spain, the Philippines, Greece, Italy, Turkey, Egypt and Sri Lanka.

The Global Beachfront Awards claim to have accounted for over 12,000 accommodation establishments on beaches (including all levels from beach bungalows to luxury, 5-star resorts) in 109 countries.
