Event News Olympic-Distance Triathlon On Naxos, Greece by GTP editing team 26 August 2014 written by GTP editing team 26 August 2014 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 19 The Municipality of Naxos and Small Cyclades will hold the 7th annual Naxathlon Triathlon in Chora, Naxos, on 30 August at 4 pm. Year after year, the popular annual sporting event attracts triathletes from near and far who travel to Naxos to compete. Special to this triathlon is the location of the start and finish of the competition: at the base of the island’s ancient landmark, “Portara” (the large marble gateway) at the Temple of Apollo on the islet known as Palatia at the port’s entrance. This year, over 100 Greek athletes are expected to take part in the Naxathlon, including several who have won and participated in world and national championship biathlon and triathlons, Ironman championships, swimming competitions, Olympics Games and others. The deadline for registration is 28 August. Categories 1) Individual Men ages: 18-30 2) Individual Men ages: 31-44 3) Individual Men ages: 45 and older 4) Individual Women ages: 18 and over 5) Team Registration requirements Must be 18 years of age Participants must have a recent medical certificate Registration form available here. Facilities provided The organizers will cover 50% of the by-sea transportation costs of the athletes coming from the ports of Piraeus, Rafina, and Irakleio, Crete.
