Aegean_A320_AEE_02_Greek carrier Aegean Airlines will strengthen its fleet with the addition of seven new Airbus A320 aircraft.

The seven brand-new aircraft will be delivered directly from the manufacturer from June 2015 until early 2016.

Aegean_A320_AEE_01_The new V2500-powered A320s of AEGEAN will be equipped with wing tip “Sharklets,” which measure 2.4 meters in height and can achieve 2-3 percent reduction in fuel consumption depending on the duration of the flight. The maximum take-off weight for this aircraft type is 78 tonnes and allows longer range flights, thus providing new opportunities for the network to expand even when flying from the company’s most southern bases (Heraklion, Rhodes, Larnaca).

“AEGEAN’s decision to receive seven new Airbus A320 aircraft once again shows its commitment to invest in the continuous development of Greece’s aviation quality,” the airline’s chairman, Theodoros Vassilakis, said.

The Greek airline was honored as the Best Regional Airline in Europe at the 2014 Skytrax World Airline Awards for the fourth consecutive year – and fifth time since 2009.

“We will do everything possible to further enhance the satisfaction of our passengers and of course our competitiveness,” he added.

AEGEAN has a total of 8 aircraft bases, connecting Greece with 87 international destinations in 32 countries as well as flying to 33 domestic airports.
