Athens Bike Festival During the last two years, the Bike Festival in the Greek capital turned out to be the meeting point of all friends of cycling in the greater Athens area. Bike Festival visitors will once again have the opportunity to see and test the latest bike models, discuss with market experts and experience an alternative lifestyle through the parallel activities that will present a different and active culture worth discovering. Last year, 71 exhibitors were on site and showed more than 300 brands and services to visitors. The events organized on site aim to get everyone, adults and children, back on their bikes. Visitors will get an opportunity to experience a new way of life and to come to know the cycling culture of the city. Last year, the festival attracted more than 30,000 visitors and had more than 2.000 bikes parked on site. The 5th Athens Bike Festival will take place 19-21 September at the City of Athens “Technopolis” multipurpose cultural space in Gazi. Hours: Friday 18:00-21:00 – Saturday & Sunday 10:00-21:00 Entrance: Free European Mobility Week “European Mobility Week” will be held 16-22 September under the slogan “Our streets, our choice” and expresses the need to evaluate again the way we use urban spaces. For years urban planning focused on facilitating the movement of cars at the expense of other forms of transportation. Now, it is time for the citizens of Europe to dream of the cities they want to live in. The urban space may be redesigned in favour of people and their needs – people who choose cycling and walking for their transportation. The objectives for this year are to provoke changes in the priorities of transportation and to promote low impact and sustainable transport methods. Is there anything better than cycling? All are invited to become one of the thousand cyclists that change the face of Athens every day! For more info on the 5th Athens Bike Festival, press here.
