Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni was among the thousands who gathered at American pop star Lady Gaga’s artRAVE concert  held at the Olympic Stadium (OAKA) in Athens on 19 September 2014.

Lady Gaga, an award-winning singer and songwriter known for her extravagant and eccentric fashion style, stated during the concert that she admires Greece and that Americans are proud of the country.

She also draped the Greek flag around herself and made a brief reference to the crisis in Greece.

“If Acropolis, Parthenon and all this amazing architecture monuments managed to survive, then you can survive!” the pop superstar screamed to her fans who cheered her on.

When asked by the Greek media to comment on the concert, Mrs. Kefalogianni said that the fact that Lady Gaga sang while wearing the Greek flag and said such nice things about the Greeks and the country is very important.

“She is a big star with many fans worldwide and the fact that she said such good words about Greece is what counts, whether we like the type of music she represents or not,” the Greek tourism minister added.
