Athens_airportAthens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” was highly commended at the World Routes Marketing Awards that took place during the 20th World Routes conference in Chicago, USA, on 22 September.

Athens Airport was honored as one of the three best airports in the world in the category of airports with 4-20 million passengers per year.

Created in 1997 to recognize excellence in airport marketing as rewarded by airlines, the annual Routes awards provide the airline community with the chance to have their say as to which airport they think provides the best overall marketing services to them.

The awards, which are voted exclusively by airlines, were split into five categories this year comprising of four airport categories, split by size and a destination category for the best destination marketing campaign by a tourism authority.

This is the 13th Routes distinction Athens Airport has gained over the last 10 years, more than any other airport on a global level.

The World Routes Marketing Awards are highly regarded as the most prestigious awards in the industry.

Brussels Airport was announced as the overall winner of the World Routes Awards 2014.
