nissos-mykonosGreek coastal ferry operator Hellenic Seaways will operate between Piraeus and Kavala and serve the islands of Chios, Mytilini and Limnos via the “Nissos Mykonos” vessel as of Friday 26 September.

The 1,915-passenger “Nissos Mykonos” will operate the Piraeus-Syros-Mykonos-Evdilos-Karlovasi-Vathi-Chios-Mytilini-Limnos-Kavala route twice at week for the next three months.

The Greek Shipping Ministry appointed the route to Hellenic Seaways after barring the Maritime Company of Lesvos (NEL Lines), along with its subsidiary Sea Link Ferries, from running the service.

The shipping ministry barred NEL Lines following complaints made in regards to severe delays and cancellations by the ferry operator.

According to reports, NEL moved last week to terminate the contract involving the Northern Aegean route, citing the inability of the state to perform its contractual obligations towards the ferry operator.
