Key Tourism Figures World Tourism Day 2014: Message By The Hellenic Chamber of Hotels by GTP editing team 26 September 2014 written by GTP editing team 26 September 2014 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 15 Hellenic Chamber of Hotels President Yiorgos Tsakiris “In a difficult time for Greece, tourism proves to be the sector that breathes life into the Greek economy and develops local communities, according to figures. The excellent tourism seasons of 2013 and 2014 has justified us professionals working in the industry and the government that supported tourism from the very beginning. The Hellenic Chamber of Hotels, on the occasion of the celebration of the 35th anniversary of World Tourism Day, highlights that Greek hotels did their patriotic duty and brought Greece to a high level within the general effort to uplift the country and despite all difficulties. But the increase of the sector’s earnings should not be a cause for complacency and celebrations. The success of the last two years gives us the responsibility to plan the next steps to increase the competitiveness and enrichment of the country’s tourist product and to strengthen Greece’s position in the global tourism market, so that the troubled Greek society will see better days. Assuming that we are all moving in the same direction, we hope to have another great year in 2015, both for Greek tourism and the country’s economic and social prosperity.” Follow GTP Headlines on Google News to keep up to date with all the latest on tourism and travel in Greece.
