A group of Greek graphic artists have launched a very interesting application that gives the opportunity to those captivated by the excavation in Amphipolis to experience the burial mound at Kasta hill as it was in antiquity and even  take a closer look inside.

The app was designed by amfipoli-news.com and is based on the official dimensions and analogies given by the Greek Culture Ministry. The virtual tour shows only parts of the tomb that have been excavated so far.

The imagery used in the app were released by the ministry over these past few months, ever since discoveries from the Amphipolis excavation began coming to light.

The online 3D, game like, virtual tour will be updated every time there is a new announcement from the ministry in regards to the tomb. (The latest update by the ministry, can be found here.)

Touring the burial mound at Kasta hill

With the help of your keyboard’s arrows, you can lead the “explorer” up to the third wall, behind where the broken marble door was found.

By pressing C on your keyboard you can make a 360-degree turn with the camera and see in all directions.

With the F key you enter full screen mode and with the R key you can start from the beginning and follow a different route.

You can try it out here. Have fun!
