Trade Associations - Gov SETE Briefs POTAMI Party On Greek Tourism Issues by GTP editing team 22 October 2014 written by GTP editing team 22 October 2014 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 16 The head of the centrist party POTAMI, Stavros Theodorakis, and representatives of the party were briefed on the progress of Greek tourism, during a meeting on 22 October with a delegation from the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE), headed by Association President Andreas Andreadis. During the meeting, the party representatives were informed on SETE’s positions on key challenges faced by people in the sector. SETE also presented its 2021 Growth Roadmap for Greek tourism to Mr. Theodorakis and requested for the POTAMI to adopt the strategic plan in order for Greek tourism to succeed further. SETE’s roadmap is a growth-oriented strategic plan for tourism that sees Greece attracting 24 million international visitors and generating 19 billion euros in direct revenue by 2021. This increase in visitor numbers and revenue would add 9 points to GDP and result in the creation of another 300,000 jobs, for a total of 1 million. The POTAMI party was also informed on the results of Greek tourism this year and the positive impact the sector has on the Greek economy and society through the diffusion of local communities, revenue, levies and creating new jobs. On its part, the POTAMI party informed SETE on its positions in regards to Greek tourism. Mr. Theodorakis underlined the importance of an “alliance of good” within the national effort to develop tourism, an announcement read.
