SmartwingsGreece has been the leading country market in each of the last two summers for Prague-based low cost airline SmartWings.

Analysis of schedule data, published by anna-aero, revealed that across the airline’s three bases in the Czech Republic, the number of flights to Greek destinations has risen 22 percent this summer while the total number of flights has risen by just two percent.

The only other country markets registering an increase in flights this summer are Bulgaria and Croatia.

A total of 46 airports were served by SmartWings’ scheduled services in summer 2014. The most regularly served destinations were Bourgas (with 26 weekly flights) followed by Heraklion (23), Antalya (19), Rhodes (18), Kos (16), Palma de Mallorca (12) and Zakynthos (10).

SmartWings is owned by Travel Service (an 85 percent subsidiary of Icelandair Group) which operates charter flights across Central Europe. SmartWings operates scheduled services from Prague, Ostrava and Brno. In 2013 Travel Service carried more than 5.1 million passengers.
