The “Lynceus” project was carried out in cooperation with European SMEs (small and medium entities) and RTDs (research and technology developers). The objective of the project is to develop a low cost and robust technology for localizing each individual passenger or crewmember onboard or in the water during emergencies, thus maximizing the probability of timely rescue and minimizing loss of life. The project will be completed in March 2015 with a demonstration to the Project officer of the European Union, whose funds made this innovative breakthrough a reality. Louis Cruises participates in the project by offering its ships for tests but has also had major input in the practical implementation of this novel technology and contributed in its development. “The safety of human life is the foremost priority of the cruising industry and in this context, it is indeed great for us to be part of this team and to have had a constructive role in significantly enhancing our industry’s safety and security capability,” Kyriakos Anastassiadis, CEO of Louis Cruises, said. After March 2015, the project will enter its second phase as “Lynceus 2,” an improved version of “Lynceus.” According to an announcement, Louis Cruises will continue to participate and support this innovative project.
