ApostolosTzitsikostasPhiloxenia 2014 greeting.

We welcome Philoxenia 2014, the oldest and leading tourism exhibition in Greece, and the Greek Travel Pages publication.

For the Region of Central Macedonia, tourism today is a core priority and strengthening the international recognition of Central Macedonia is a strategic choice. International networking, approaching specific tourism markets, hosting major international events and extending infrastructure for visitors, are our tools to achieve these goals.

The results for the second consecutive year are quantifiable and evident according to the number of arrivals in our main airport “Makedonia”, and the overnight stays of our visitors.

Now, we are intensifying the effort for even more optimistic potentials. For that purpose we are cultivating the specified and alternative forms of tourism that the Region of Central Macedonia can support successfully, derived from our rich landscape and our broad infrastructure network.

We tempt our guests to visit “Mount Athos”, one of the cradles of Christianity. We propose trips to Vergina, Dion and Amfipolis to esteem the archaeological treasures of the rich Macedonian history. We suggest enjoying the healing waters of Pozar, of Lagkada and of Agistro, and explore the unique beaches of Halkidiki, Pieria and the coastline of Thessaloniki.

We also recommend to our guests the trips to our mountains Olympos, Kaimaktsalan, Seli and Elatohori, or trips to lakes Kerkini, Volvi, and Doirani. We suggest the visit to Axios and Aliakmonas.

In Central Macedonia different paths intersect, mix and simultaneously continue to remain unique. Original, vibrant, welcoming, Central Macedonia is waiting to be discovered.

The Region of Central Macedonia supports Philoxenia, and also supports and invests in partnerships that can contribute to the promotion of Central Macedonia, and the improvement of our infrastructure and our services.

I wish every success to this year’s Philoxenia and to the Greek Travel Pages publication.
