Exhibitions Kostas Agorastos, Regional Governor of Thessaly by GTP editing team 5 November 2014 written by GTP editing team 5 November 2014 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 25 Philoxenia 2014 greeting. Thessaly is a small version of Greece. It is a destination of four seasons with locations such as Mount Olympus, the Northern Sporades, Pelion, Meteora, Plastira Lake and the coastline of Larissa, which have all the advantages to boost it as universal popular meeting point. Our region offers all types of tourism such as religious, thermal, medical, conference, hiking, sports, skiing, agritourism and more. It is also worth mentioning that we are the first region in the country in sports events. We have also begun constructing underwater museums in the Northern Sporades and the Pagasitian Gulf to develop diving tourism. At the same time we are also creating planetariums in Meteora and Mount Olympus so that our visitors, with the help of new technology, will be able to “see” the area’s history, “hike” the mountain tops and “explore” its paths. Thessaly is also a gateway to countries abroad. The region has two large airports, in Southern Anchialos and Skiathos (which is being upgraded with European funds), the large port of Volos, and the railway of Thessaly, which we are currently upgrading with powertrain technologies (electromobility). The hospitality of the locals, as well as the endless possibilities of our destination, renders it capable to fulfill the demands of all visitors throughout the year.
