Dietician Anastasios Papalazarou introduced guests to the wide array of local products and offered information on the Mediterranean diet and its contribution to a healthier life. Besides the sampling of Greek delicacies, the itinerary included visits to Attica’s main historical sites – the Parthenon, the Acropolis Museum, the Temple of Poseidon at Sounion – as well as trips to the Saronic islands. German, French and Italian journalists representing RAI2, Focus, Dove and Cuisine Actuelle participated in the trip, which is part of the Attica regional authority’s ongoing program aimed at promoting Athens and Attica as an ideal all-year-round city break destination offering choices for every taste. The Attica regional authority’s program, primarily targeting French, German and Italian markets, focused on Greek gastronomy following findings of regular surveys conducted at Athens International Airport, which indicate that Greek cuisine is the second determining factor for visitors deciding to visit Greece.
