Costa Navarino (Dunes Course): “Greece’s Best Golf Course 2014”

wrold-golf-2014-winner-gold_1Two Greek resorts were among the winners of the 1st annual World Golf Awards that took place recently at Conrad Algarve in Portugal.

The only global initiative to recognize, reward and celebrate excellence in the golf hospitality industry, the event saw the Costa Navarino and the Porto Carras Grand Resort awarded in the “Greece” category.

Costa Navarino collected the award for “Greece’s Best Golf Course 2014” for The Dunes Course and the Porto Carras Grand Resort was voted “Greece’s Best Golf Hotel 2014”.

In the “Cyprus” category, the Aphrodite Hills Golf Course was titled “Cyprus’s Best Golf Course 2014” and the InterContinental Aphrodite Hills Resort Hotel walked away that night with the “Cyprus’s Best Golf Hotel 2014” award.

The “World’s Best Golf Destination” title was given to Portugal.

A new event, the World Golf Awards serves to celebrate and reward excellence in golf tourism, world class courses and golf destinations.

The Dunes Course 10_1aThe inaugural event focused on the leading 130 nations that are shaping the future of the dynamic industry. While celebrating and rewarding excellence across golf resorts, courses and the golfing destinations throughout the world, World Golf Awards will strive to ultimately raise the golf tourist customer experience and stimulate both the domestic and international golf tourism market.

Golf tourism constitutes a vital segment in the global travel and tourism marketplace. An estimated 600 million golfer visits will take place in 2014 to the 32,000 golf courses and resorts worldwide.
