Recognizing the importance of the Northern Greek travel industry, Travelport recently held an event in Thessaloniki and showed its commitment to understanding and meeting the specific needs of travel agents in the region. Travelport is a leading Travel Commerce Platform providing distribution, technology, payment and other solutions for the $7 trillion global travel and tourism industry.

The event was held at “Savoy”, on the sidelines of the 30th Philoxenia exhibition and was co-hosted by the Macedonia-Thrace Travel Agencies Association.

“We are investing to redefine the way travel agencies search, sell and book travel content, by offering an empowered approach to selling through visually-rich content and detailed product descriptions, driven through efficient automated workflow processes,” Leonidas Zotos, Travelport’s general manager for Greece, Cyprus and Israel, told GTP.

Mr. Zotos said Travelport is redefining the way its platform aggregates travel content from hundreds and thousands of travel providers, to enable them to sell their full range of products and services, their way, and give travel agencies and corporations real-time access to an ever-expanding inventory.

“The success of our initiative in Thessaloniki confirms that the local travel industry is welcoming and appreciating this approach,” Mr. Zotos concluded.
