Italian tour operators pledged to include tours of the Epirus region, in northern Greece, in their packages for the coming summer after a five-day fam trip to the region organized by the Region of Epirus, the Greek National Tourism Organization – Italy (GNTO) and Minoan Lines. Fifteen tour operators had the chance to go off the beaten track and experience the finest cuisine, sites, sports and attractions that Epirus has to offer. This is the first in a series of fam trips organized by the GNTO-Italy in the coming months under the title “Discovering a Unique Greece” (Alla scoperta dell’ insolita Grecia). The itinerary included visits to some of the region’s main tourist hotspots including the capital of Epirus, Ioannina, traditional village Metsovo, the Tzoumerka region, the Zagori stone villages and the seaside town of Sivota. In Ioannina, they met with the Ioannina Hoteliers Association, who informed them of the infrastructure and accommodations available.
