Event News Athens Honey Fest to Draw in the Crowds by GTP editing team 27 November 2014 written by GTP editing team 27 November 2014 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 4 The 6th Festival of Greek Honey and Bee Products, set to take place on 5-7 December at the Peace & Friendship Stadium, aims to promote Greek honey and bee products and to inform the public on its potential. The three-day festival held at the seaside Peace & Friendship Stadium in Neo Faliro is the honey-producing sector’s biggest event. Organized every two years under the auspices of the Rural Development and Food ministry, the festival is expected to feature over 70 large-, medium- and small-scale producers from all of Greece, including the tiniest of islands. The show will include everything from honey-inspired dishes and sweets prepared on the spot by practicing chefs, cocktail-making shows, presentations on the health and pharmaceutical benefits of honey, the role of honey in Greek cuisine and the Mediterranean diet, as well as demonstrations on beekeeping. Visitors will also have the chance to familiarize themselves with the many types of Greek-produced honey and meet the producers. On the sidelines, conferences will be held on topics including the promotion and branding of Greek honey and products, honey and gastronomy, social cooperatives and honey production, the export of Greek honey and products. Admission is at 2 euros, free for children under 8. Open Friday noon-9pm, Saturday 10am-9pm and Sunday 10am-8pm.
