Targeting the Balkan and southeast Europe markets, the Municipality of Monemvasia made its presence felt at this year’s Philoxenia trade show last month in the northern port city of Thessaloniki.

In efforts to establish Monemvasia, a picturesque medieval town located on a tiny island off the east coast of the Peloponnese, as a prime tourist destination, the municipality’s Tourism Development and Promotion Committee met with international tour operators and sector professionals and presented the region’s accommodation facilities, main attractions and landmarks, museums and cultural institutions and pledged to open channels of communication with tour operators in order to attract more tourists to the region.
