November was a record month for Athens International Aiport (AIA). For the first time in the last five years over one million passengers, namely 1.04 million, passed through its facilities in just one month. This figure represents an increase of 27.4 percent over last year when 815.500 passengers passed through AIA during the same month.

Domestic passengers in Athens Airport last month recorded an impressive growth of 38.7 percent and international passengers rose by 21.4 percent. International passengers to Greece with Athens as their final destination increased by 28 percent in November.

In addition, AIA’s data showed that Greek travelers increased by 30 percent in November, while domestic travel increased by 43 percent that month.

Overall, during the January-November 2014 period, passenger traffic increased by 20.8 percent to 14.14 million, compared to 2.4 million passengers in 2013. Both domestic and international passengers showed similar levels of growth (+21.3 percent and +20.5 percent respectively) during the first 11 months of the year.
