As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility Program titled “With You As Our Destination”, Attica Group’s Blue Star Ferries organized a series of First Aid seminars on the Aegean islands of Tilos and Amorgos recently.

The ferry service provider arranged two-day seminars for the residents of the remote islands of Amorgos and Tilos in collaboration with the Volunteer Rescue – Crisis Group (EDOK) with the aim to provide locals with emergency care training and with the ultimate goal to establish local rescue teams specially trained in First Aid, alpine rescue, lifesaving and fire protection. Teachers, security forces and local inhabitants attended the seminars.

Attica Group underlines the need for the creation of local rescue teams particularly in view of the difficult circumstances on Greece’s remote islands, which have limited access to healthcare and immediate transfer services.

Founded in 2008, the Volunteer Rescue – Crisis Group is an NGO operating under the General Secretariat for Civil Protection, manned by 70 volunteers who are on hand to offer help in emergency situations and organize special awareness events.
