In efforts to boost business, the municipality has invited Athens businesses to offer discounts every Tuesday all day as part of the “Vgenoume Athina” project. Some 36 bars, restaurants and cafes have joined the project so far offering 10-euro menus, drinks for five euros, a bottle of wine at 12 euros and coffee at two euros. A list of participating establishments is available online. The City of Athens aims to expand the initiative in coming years to include other businesses such as food retailers, attracting residents and visitors to the city center on Tuesdays with low cost services and products. The municipality invites all interested parties to fill in an application on its website, adding that the initiative aims to liven the city center and offer Athens entrepreneurs the chance to actively participate in enhancing the social and economic life of the Greek capital.
