Trade Associations - Gov HACT Aims to Push Greece to U.S., Latin American Markets by GTP editing team 19 December 2014 written by GTP editing team 19 December 2014 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 9 Making Greece a leading tourism destination and penetrating the U.S. and Latin American markets are among the priorities of the Hellenic American Chamber of Tourism (HACT), it recently announced, citing statistics for the 2013-2014 period that indicate U.S. tourists prefer Europe as a destination of choice, with the Caribbean a close second. Additional evidence of the increased interest in Greece, was Delta Airline’s recent decision to introduce up to 11 direct flights to Athens. “With an average American tourist spending 2,500 euros compared to the 600 euros by a European, the U.S. market is demonstrating a strong performance on the stress tests, where other promising markets have proven to be volatile,” HACT president George Trivizas said. In view of these developments, Mr. Trivizas said that HACT is planning to tap into the “huge potential” of the U.S. market with a series of actions for the targeted penetration of the U.S. and Latin American markets, to be announced next year. As part of its promotional campaign, HACT is co-organizing its 4th fam trip on 14-21 March with the participation of leading tourism sector professionals, international media, luxury line agents, travel specialists and tour operators from the U.S. and Latin America seeking collaborations with Greek suppliers.
