The platform Greece4Start will provide information that will prove useful to new entrepreneurs in regards to queries on regulations, legislation, technical matters and management issues. Speaking during an event on Monday in Athens, Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni presented the ministry’s policies aimed to support young entrepreneurs, startups, technology innovators, private sector investors and public tourism institutions. “Our initiative aims for these entrepreneurs to exploit the great advantage of Greece named tourism. The era when the state was also an entrepreneur has passed,” Mrs. Kefalogianni said. She noted that the ministry’s main goal is for “the forces of innovation and tourism” to unite in practice in order to strengthen and modernize the quality tourism product. According to recent data, there are currently several Greek startups operating in the country’s tourism industry. However, the tourism sector ranks fourth in the startup scene, behind financial services, media and the food industry. “This clearly indicates that there is room for improvement,” the tourism minister said. Mrs. Olga Kefalogianni invited all young people to take initiatives and invest in innovative enterprises. “The tourism ministry will support these efforts,” she said.
