Destinations news Nafplion Residents Decorate Town with Recycled Material by GTP editing team 27 December 2014 written by GTP editing team 27 December 2014 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 7 Nafplion Globally Yours celebrates the holiday season with treks around the Peloponnesian city of Nafplion, and welcomes guests to its streets and squares decorated this year with the help of its residents. In efforts to raise awareness and promote a friendlier means of holiday embellishment, this year Nafplion’s Municipal Organization for Culture, Environment, Sports and Tourism invited city dwellers to create holiday decorations with recycled materials provided by the town’s entrepreneurs. The result? A bright canvas of holiday cheer with eco-friendly materials treating visitors to an alternative side of one Greece’s favorite tourist destinations. “Nafplion Globally Yours” is a trek drawn up by field experts in collaboration with the Municipality of Nafplion that aims to introduce visitors to the historic northeast Peloponnese town’s rich cultural heritage from the Middle Ages to the 1829, when it became the first capital of the Greek State. Geo Routes Cultural Heritage Journeys Institute is a non-profit, non-governmental organization offering experiential cultural and environmental journeys under the auspices of the Hellenic National Commission for UNESCO.
