While delivering a speech today at the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels fourth general assembly, the minister assured Greek hoteliers that the new tourism leadership was “on the same page” with them.

“Our paths are common. We want to highlight the competitive advantages of Greek tourism, highlight all unique elements and give the sector its leading position in the development of the Greek economy,” Ms. Kountoura said.

“You all, as key players in the tourism sector, have a key role in the image, quality and range of services… You must constantly improve your services and upgrade your quality to offer a good experience to every visitor of the country.”

Ms. Kountoura added that the main goals of the ministry include strengthening the Greek tourist product and modernizing it in accordance to international trends, promoting the country in all foreign markets and enhancing infrastructure development based on a model that respects the environment.

In addition, the minister said that the Economy, Infrastructure, Shipping and Tourism Ministry will cooperate with all relevant ministries to take corrective action and reboot the economy in order to support the country’s small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that “were and are the backbone of the Greek economy.”
