Newly appointed Alternate Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura met with her Serbian counterpart Lukrecija Djeri this week to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries on issues of tourism through the joint efforts of the newly introduced Greek National Tourism Organization office in Belgrade, and the Serbian tourism authority. Kountoura also met with the Ambassador of Israel to Greece Irit Ben Abba to discuss among others the strengthening of ties between the two countries and potential cooperation between Athens and Tel Aviv in the area of city tourism. The new minister’s agenda also included a meeting with the Ambassador of Turkey to Greece, Kerim Uras. The minister underlined the close ties between Greece and Turkey and the importance of cooperation in the area of tourism, which Kountoura said, the ministry aims to enhance. “When our neighborhood grows, it is to the benefit of all,” she added. The Turkish ambassador said he expects Greece and Turkey to work together towards achieving common goals and mutual benefits from tourism.
