As part of its ongoing efforts to boost ties and work closer together in the area of tourism, the Greece-Serbia Business Council organized a meeting between newly appointed Alternate Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura and her Serbian counterpart Lukrecija Djeri last week.

The two ministers were joined by the general secretary of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO), Panos Leivadas, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries on issues of tourism through the joint efforts of the newly introduced GNTO office in Belgrade, expected to open in the spring, and the Serbian tourism authority.

In this direction, Kountoura said she would be visiting Belgrade in the coming months, where she will sign a memorandum of cooperation between Greece and Serbia.

The two ministers also met with major Greek tour operators and entrepreneurs, who made proposals and discussed the benefits of mutual targeted actions.

During her two-day visit to Athens, Mrs Djeri also met with Greece-Serbia Business Council founder and CEO Symeon Tsomokos, who informed her of future visits by Greek tour operators and journalists to Belgrade in efforts to boost tourism in both countries.
