Girl Power: Greek Women Travel Europe Alone

All the more ladies are keen on exploring Europe alone, according to figures released recently by online booking platform TravelPlanet24 on occasion of International Women’s Day on March 8.

London, Munich, Paris, Istanbul and Sofia are the top picks for Greek female travellers, based a total of 22,000 bookings made online between January 1, 2014 and February 25, 2015. Of those booking online, 80.12 percent prefer to travel alone while 20 percent with female company.

European destinations lead the way for solo travel, while those travelling in groups opt for London, Istanbul Rome, Amsterdam and Paris.

Many Greek females chose exotic destinations including Dubai, Bangkok, Bali, New Delhi, Tunisia, Beijing and Cancun.

Women prefer to book on average 40 days in advance with 89.77 percent doing so from their desktops and 10.23 percent via their mobiles.

Airlines of choice are Aegean, Ryanair, Air Serbia, Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines.
