Destination marketing company Visit Meteora and hotel comparison website Trivago Greece have embarked on a cooperation to promote Meteora as a religious tourism destination.

Translating to “suspended in the air”, Meteora is home to six monasteries built on natural sandstone rock pillars in central Greece, near the town of Kalambaka.

This month Trivago’s travel blog checkin is featuring destination Meteora through a series of Greek articles focused on the religious tourism opportunities travellers can find in Meteora.

All travel articles will be religious tourism-related for the spring season and will focus on main events, travel tips, hotspots and the destination’s “secrets”. Opinion pieces by locals will also be available on the blog.

The articles will contain links to the Visit Meteora website, which is designed to function as a source of information and a channel for communication among visitors and the tourism businesses of the destination.

Meteora is listed as an UNESCO World Heritage site.
