Photo © Facebook – ΟΙ ΟΜΟΡΦΙΕΣ ΤΗΣ ΕΛΛΑΔΑΣ ΜΑΣ The historic Thessaloniki ferries will once again be sailing the Thermaic Gulf, south of the port city, as part of a pilot program aimed at improving transportation services. As of mid-May and through to October, three small ferries running daily will offer Thessaloniki residents and visitors alternative means of transportation, linking the port of Thessaloniki with locations across the eastern coast of the Theramaic Gulf. The Konstantis, the Agios Georgios and the Thermaikos 1, owned by Thessaloniki Waterways, will operate the Thessaloniki-Lefkos Pyrgos- Kalamaria–Perea–Neoi Epivates–Agia Triada route. “We plan to relaunch the boat service around May 12-15, and we’ve included new stops in Kalamaria and Agia Triada, in order to serve more people. The exact routes will be established in the coming weeks, with ferries departing hourly,” Thessaloniki Waterways representative and ship-owner Manos Kailas told the Athens News Agency. According to Kailas, the service handled some 40,000 passengers last year. I like the idea to travel directly from Agia Triada to Saloniki, and not to go to Perea first by bus. I will use it very often in August 2015, promise! Does it really stop in Agia Triada now?
