Photo © Facebook – ΟΙ ΟΜΟΡΦΙΕΣ ΤΗΣ ΕΛΛΑΔΑΣ ΜΑΣ Located in the Northern Aegean, Limnos and neighboring Agios Efstratios are currently being served by the Taxiarchis, which authorities say is not sufficient and claim that lacking transport services will have dire consequences for the islands’ resident as well as for visitors ahead of the Easter and summer season. The trip by ferry lasts approximately 11-15 hours with stopovers at other islands. The meeting was convened by Limnos Prefect Evangelos Giarmadourou and the island’s mayor, Dimitris Marinakis, in order to explore further actions to bring Limnos and Agios Efstratios “out of isolation”. Authorities also decided to establish a committee for the transportation issue, with the participation of the island’s prefect and mayor as well as of Agios Efstratios Mayor Maria Kakalas and Panagiotis Tsantarliotis, representative the Limnos Trade Association and the Lesvos Chamber.
