A special policing plan will soon launch in the historic center of Athens to combat delinquent behavior and upgrade the Greek capital’s image, the Secretary General for Public Order Dimitris Anagnostakis informed representatives of the Hellenic Association of Travel & Tourist Agencies (HATTA) during a meeting in Athens.

HATTA had requested the meeting in view of the forthcoming summer season, to discuss policing in the city center as well as a series of issues that affect the Greek capital’s tourism industry and travel agency sector.

Other issues discussed with Mr. Anagnostakis included the lawful functioning of the industry and the attraction of more visitors to the Greek capital.

The Greek travel agents also informed him on the problems tourist bus drivers face in regards to making stops and parking in the city center.

The secretary general for public order and HATTA have agreed to cooperate more closely to jointly address problems in the city in order to shield Athens from bad impressions and also combat illegal tourism activity.
