Marketing tourism through strategic planning and tapping into local potential was the focus of a two-day seminar organized last week by the Region of Attica and aimed at municipalities of the region.

Municipal authorities and local tourism professionals participated in the two-day event in order to learn more about ways to utilise marketing tools for the most effective promotion of their tourism product.

Besides being informed by field experts, participants also had the chance to present their own proposals while know-how was provided on strategic planning, implementation of far-reaching plans, prioritizing tourist promotion issues and strengthening local tourism products.

The Greek National Tourism Organisation was also present to inform participants of approval procedures for promotional activities as well as of good practices, collaboration opportunities and existing legislation on tourism promotion.

“We all have the same goal; making the whole of Attica with its diversity a competitive tourist destination fully adapted to the needs, habits and requirements of the modern-day traveler,” said Eleni Dimopoulou, associate regional director for tourism promotion of the Attica Region.
