Kos: International Tourism Conference Opens on May 1

Cutting-edge issues on tourism will be discussed by researchers and professionals at the International Conference “Tourism as a Tool for Sustainable Growth” which will open on the Greek island of Kos on Friday, May 1.

Organized by the European Tourism Unit / European Centre of Excellence (University of Athens), with the support of Bournemouth University, IFITT (International Federation for Information Technologies in Travel and Tourism), ETOA (European Tourism Association), National Centre for Sustainable Development, the conference offers a unique opportunity for those interested in issues such as:

Greek Alternate Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura will give a keynote speech on “Tourism in the Aegean: problems and prospects”.

The conference will bring together officials from international tourism organizations, sector entrepreneurs and professionals as well as internationally renowned experts and scholars such as Andreas Andreadis, President, SETE (Greek Tourism Confederation); George Ηatzimarkos, Governor, South Aegean Region; Stavros Arnaoutakis, Governor, Crete region; Christiana Kalogirou, Governor, North Aegean Region; Basaran Ulusoy, President TURSAB, Turkey; Eftychios Vasilakis, Vice-President, Aegean; Dimitrios Koukis, President YPA (Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority); Angelos Loizou, President, Cyprus Tourism Organization; and representatives of TUI, the Intercontinental Hotels Group, the International Airport Association etc.

The conference will also feature renowned experts such as Professor Dimitris Buhalis – Director of the eTourism Lab – Bournemouth University, Professor Adele Ladkin – Bournemouth University and Professor Alexandros Paraskevas – University of West London.
