Paving the way for digital innovation and new entrepreneurship in aviation and tourism, Athens International Airport (AIA) announces the “Digital Gate: Airport Innovation Challenge – Transforming the Airport Environment” competition and invites young developers to submit by June 30 ideas for innovative services and applications that could contribute to an upgraded airport environment. In collaboration with the Athens University of Economics and Business and the Athens Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, organisers aim to run the contest annually. This year’s Digital Gate: Airport Innovation Challenge invites applicants to explore the following challenges: facilitating and improving the overall travel experience for members of the airport community (passengers, employees, visitors, businesses, etc.), selecting the most effective and far-reaching means of communication, providing personalized services and reference systems, capitalising on social media, and re-adapting location-based services. Participating parties reaching the last of the competition’s three phases will receive the support of the university’s E-Business Research Centre (ELTRUN) towards the application of the idea. Winners will be announced in October and November. For more information, press here. Follow GTP Headlines on Google News to keep up to date with all the latest on tourism and travel in Greece.
